Platform. Protection. Profit.

One framework, three levers. Every engagement starts by scoring you on all three, then goes hard at the one that’s actually holding you back.

First

We diagnose

A free Scale Audit scores your platform, protection and profit, and shows where the real constraint is.

Then

We prioritise

We fix in the right order, the lever that unlocks the others goes first, not the one that’s loudest.

Always

We keep it independent

No vendor commissions, no products to push. Just the recommendation that’s right for you.

The three levers

What I actually do.

01 Platform

Cloud & platform modernisation

Turn a fragile, expensive stack into one that scales, and sells.

When you need it

Your platform is expensive to run and risky to change. Migrations stall halfway. Cloud spend climbs faster than revenue, and technical debt is quietly capping your margin and slowing every release.

What I do

  • Architecture & technical-debt review
  • Cloud-native & multi-tenant platform roadmap
  • Cloud cost & margin optimisation
  • Platform consolidation and build-vs-buy calls
  • Technical due diligence, buy or sell side
The outcome

A platform that scales with the business, a modernisation roadmap you can execute, and cloud costs you control instead of chase.

02 Protection

Security & compliance uplift

Meet the standards your clients demand, then sell them on.

When you need it

Clients are asking for Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 and evidence you can’t yet produce. You’re expected to hold accreditations to win work, and you’d rather sell security than quietly absorb its cost.

What I do

  • Security posture assessment & gap analysis
  • Cyber Essentials, Plus & ISO 27001 readiness
  • Building your own accreditation, done properly
  • Productising security as a client-facing service
  • Incident-readiness and policy foundations
The outcome

Accreditations within reach, a defensible security posture, and security repackaged as a revenue line rather than a grudge purchase.

03 Profit

Productisation & commercials

Package technical capability into services with real margin.

When you need it

Margins are compressing and you’re competing on price. Strong engineering is trapped in undifferentiated break-fix. Your offer is hard to explain, and harder to sell.

What I do

  • Service catalogue & tier design
  • Pricing & packaging overhaul
  • Proposition & go-to-market
  • Commercialising technical capability
  • Exit & acquisition readiness
The outcome

Clear, tiered services buyers understand, a defined margin per tier, and a proposition your sales conversations can actually close.

Engagements

Four ways to work together.

Start free and scale only as each step earns its place. Every engagement is scoped and priced up front, no open-ended retainers.

Step 0 · Free

The Scale Audit

A 30-minute, operator-to-operator diagnostic across Platform, Protection and Profit, with a one-page action plan you keep whether or not we work together.
Free
30 minutes
Step 1 · Fixed fee

The Sprint

One problem, one price, one deliverable: a platform review, a Cyber Essentials readiness pack, or a pricing & packaging overhaul. Low-risk, easy to say yes to, proves value fast.
£4k–12k
2–6 weeks · fixed
Step 2 · Ongoing

Fractional advisor

Senior technical and commercial leadership on tap, a set number of retained days each month, embedded alongside your team.
£2.5k–6.5k
per month
Step 3 · Light-touch

Advisory board seat

A monthly strategic call plus on-call access, for owners who want a trusted sounding board rather than a full engagement.
£750–1.5k
per month

Prefer a day rate for ad-hoc work? £1,000–£1,400/day. All figures are indicative and benchmarked to the UK market for fractional-CTO and specialist consultancy work; final scope and fee are always agreed in writing before any work starts.

How we start

Three steps, no commitment.

1

Book the Scale Audit

A free 30-minute call. Tell me where it hurts; I’ll ask the questions an operator would.

2

Get your action plan

A one-page plan scoring Platform, Protection and Profit, with the two or three things to fix first.

3

Decide if it’s worth it

Pick a Sprint or a retainer only if it clearly pays off. If it doesn’t, I’ll say so.

Questions

The things owners ask first.

How do you charge?
Fixed-fee Sprints, monthly retainers, or a day rate for ad-hoc work, whichever fits the job. It’s agreed in writing up front, so there are no surprises and no open-ended meters running.
Are you really independent?
Yes. I take no commissions and no reseller kickbacks from any vendor. I’ll recommend the tools and platforms that are right for your business, even when that’s “keep what you’ve got.”
Do you implement, or only advise?
I advise and guide hands-on, working alongside your team through the delivery. I’m not a body shop, the goal is to make your people effective and leave you stronger, not to become a permanent dependency.
What size providers do you work with?
Typically owner-led MSPs, cloud and hosting providers roughly between £1M and £15M in revenue, big enough to have real complexity, small enough not to have all three of these disciplines in-house.
Remote or on-site?
Remote-first, working with providers across the UK. I’ll come on-site for workshops, discovery or board sessions where being in the room genuinely earns its place.
How is this different from a fractional CTO?
A fractional CTO covers technology. I’m channel-native and cover technology, security and the commercials, the whole picture an MSP owner actually has to run. That intersection is the point of NMC.
